I was recently discouraged with a class that I am taking that is difficult and involves my area of weakness concerning school. At times it seems like quitting would be the easy way out but then I just remember that I have come so far and I’m not going to let just one thing stop me from reaching my goals. I reevaluated my situation and became more encoraged not to give up and just try harder and put forth more effort.
When I was dealing with this situation and discouraged I found the poem below that encouraged me. During our college careers we are going to face difficult classes and tasks that sometimes seem like they will never end. If we just hang in there we will have a great satisfaction knowing that we stuck through the tough times and came out successful! Also let’s remember we can’t keep holding on to our past successes because often times when complacency and contentment sets in it is easier to lose track and not do as well as we had planned or hoped for. So let’s reach for continued success!
Don’t Quit
By: Unknown Author
When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill,
When funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh.
When care is pressing you down a bit.
Rest, if you must, but don’t you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns
As every one of us sometimes learns.
And many a failure turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out.
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow –
You may succeed with another blow.
Success is failure turned inside out –
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt.
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far.
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit
It’s when things seem worst that you must not quit.
